Competitive ability of western Canadian spring wheat cultivars in a model weed system

چکیده
Economic and social pressures are spurring the study of alternate weed management strategies such as development competitive crop cultivars, capable being used under an integrated plan. The primary objective this research was to determine whether western Canadian spring wheat ( Triticum spp.) cultivars differ in their ability compete against model weeds those differences were expressed when challenged with wild weeds. A total 71 grown absence or presence simulated [cultivated oat Avena sativa L.) oriental mustard Brassica juncea L.)] natural [wild fatua competition conditions. Significant p = 0.01) by cultivar interactions involving changes yield rank detected, indicating that responded differently competition. small minority Glenlea, CDC Rama, Genesis, AC Taber, Vista, Plenty, Napoleon, BW652 had high-yield potential coupled maintenance pressure. advantage appeared be associated plant height tillers per square meter well shorter vernalization requirement combined photoperiod sensitivity. These outlier could exploited breeding new widely adapted varieties for scenarios where reduced herbicide control is desired, including situations resistance limits chemical options. Cultivars differing conditions maintained ranking infestations. This suggests selecting using a repeatable protocol based on realistic.

A study was carried out over 2 years (2008/2009 and 2009/2010) in Greece, in order to evaluate the weed control using reduced rates of the herbicide mesosulfuron-methyl+iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium of four major weeds (Avena sterilis, Phalaris minor, Papaver rhoeas and Sinapis arvensis), grain yield and yield components of five wheat cultivars (Bob, Cosmodur, Meridiano, Quadrato and Simeto). متن کاملA review of the potential for competitive cereal cultivars as a tool in integrated weed management
Competitive crop cultivars offer a potentially cheap option to include in integrated weed management strategies (IWM). Although cultivars with high competitive potential have been identified amongst cereal crops, competitiveness has not traditionally been considered a priority for breeding or farmer cultivar choice. The challenge of managing herbicide-resistant weed populations has, however, re...

introduction the lentil or masoor (lens culinaris l.) is a brushy annual plant of the legume family, grown for its lens-shaped seeds. lentil has been one of the first crops domesticated in the near east. with 26% protein, lentil is the vegetable with the highest level of protein other than soybeans, and it is an important part of people’s diet in many parts of the world. it is reported that the...
